Today’s article contains ten spiritual phrases that’ll help you reflect on your life. Although you may not be aware of it, spirituality is a force that connects you with yourself and with the essence of things.
One can define it in many ways: as an energy, a way of seeing the world, a philosophy of life, an exercise of introspection, etc. Furthermore, spiritual intelligence is when you take advantage of your spirituality to solve problems and identify the path you should take.
“The knowledge of the Spirit is the true secret of creativity, leadership, and happiness. It’s spiritual intelligence that makes an ordinary person a genius. When a genius loses his spiritual intelligence, he becomes quite ordinary.”
-Awdhesh Singh-
What exactly is spirituality?
There are many definitions, and they’re all valid. This is because spirituality is personal. It’s a matter of faith in a way; the energy that connects you with yourself and with the essence of things (and people).
One could also say it’s the awareness of a part of you that materializes and links to something beyond all living beings. It’s also about faith and religion.
Spiritual intelligence
This capacity allows you to give meaning to your life. For instance, Buddha spoke of it using the term “insight” or Vipassana (the capacity for a penetrative perspective to grasp the deep reality of phenomena and to see things as they are).
For their part, Danah Zohar and Ian Marshall, researchers and authors of the book Spiritual Intelligence: The Ultimate Intelligence (2001) defined this concept as “The capacity that allows you to confront and solve problems of meaning and values, to see your life in a more meaningful context, and, at the same time, to determine which action or path is more valuable for your life”.
As you can see, spirituality and spiritual intelligence allow you to reflect on concepts such as self-knowledge, love, life, and death, among others.
The purpose of spiritual phrases
Things happen when you let out your spiritual side: you connect more with people, with the essence of things, and, above all, with yourself. Spirituality is, in turn, an ability that allows you to go beyond the visible or the superfluous.
Reflect on this concept through the following spiritual phrases:
“Life gives you plenty of time to do whatever you want if you stay in the present moment.”
–Deepak Chopra–
The time you can (and perhaps should) take advantage of is the time that already exists: the present.
“We’re not human beings going through a spiritual experience; we’re spiritual beings living a human experience.”
-Teihard de Chardin-
The fact is that everyone, to some extent, harbors some spirituality, and lives through it.
“Just as a candle can’t burn without fire, men can’t live without a spiritual life.”
-Buddha-
Spiritual life is often necessary to connect with oneself and with “that which one can’t see”. It allows you to disconnect from reality and look within.
“The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal. It can’t be organized or regulated. It isn’t true that everyone must follow one path. Listen to your own truth.”
-Anonymous-
Everyone has their own path and must define it as they walk. No two paths are alike, just as no two people are.
“Spirituality isn’t adopting more beliefs and assumptions, but uncovering the best in you.”
-Amit Ray-
Indeed, spirituality is also related to beliefs and thoughts. However, the truth is that there’s no better way to connect with it than by connecting with that non-tangible part of yourself. This can only happen when you know yourself.
“Realization is simply giving life to something within oneself.”
-Anonymous-
Fulfillment involves connecting with what you’re passionate about, and passion is often about connecting with your essence.
“Religion brings to man an inner strength, spiritual light and ineffable peace.”
-Alexis Carrel-
The author of this quote is a Nobel Prize in Medicine winner. Inner strength is related to this light and this peace people constantly seek, and that affords you a certain mental balance. Many people feel this strength thanks to their faith.
“It’s through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up.”
-Eckhart Tolle-
Gratitude is a value, as well as a capacity, that allows you to connect with what you have and are and to be grateful for it.
“People only see what they’re prepared to see.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson-
Your beliefs influence and help you expand your perspective on things but they also limit it. Thus, spirituality, even if it sometimes strays from the “earthly,” is also related to these beliefs.
“He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.”
-Tao Te Ching-
Knowing others provides you with learning and knowledge, but there’s nothing like knowing yourself.
What’s your favorite spiritual phrase? Do you know any others? Continue learning about this concept and, above all, be spiritual in your own unique way if you feel the need.
